Rush
hour at the new School park.
What
do Entrelacs school kids, volunteers and sponsors have
in common ?
First
of all, our kids learn according to the latin expression "non scolae sed vitae discimus" (meaning : We learn not for school
but for life.) All year round.
Secondly,
our volunteers permanently support our local institutions and activities
like the first Christmas Market we had on December 9, the Salon
des Artisans in June, the church, etc.,with never ending enthusiasm.
Thirdly,
the sponsors spend their skills, time or money for whatever is needed,
with the same enthusiasm.
But
all have to be motivated first.
Entrelacs
gave on December 14th, day of the inauguration of the School park,
a good example of the cycle from motivation to engagement and then,
to thankful acceptance.
The
Council took the opportunity of the municipal annual cocktail for
the volunteers to make this day memorable by launching officially
the (partly) realised new Parc Ecole, and recognizing the involvement
of all financial partners and sponsors for their engagement in 2007.
At
this occasion, Mrs. Francine Lebeau, General Manager of the Samares School Board, found the right words for the inauguration of the
School park in Entrelacs. She got warm applause for her speech,
but also for the generous contribution of the School Board to the
project.
Entrelacs
Mayor, Ric Garland, opened another door to Entrelacs community life
by awarding 2 prices in recognition of volunteer work, named in
memoriam of Marcel Baril, who died early in 2005.
The
Prix Hommage Marcel-Baril in recognition of a lifetime dedicated
to community work was remitted to Mrs. Étiennette Lévesque.
The Prix Marcel-Baril Bénévole de l'année 2007 went to Mrs. Claudette Dionne, especially for her engagement with
projects related to the elderly people of Entrelacs.

by the Weavers Club in Entrelacs colors.
These
prizes were jointly initiated by the municipal Council and the ADLIE
(Lac des Îles Association) who wanted the selection process
to be public. So, a formal committee determined the selection criteria,
citizens were invited to vote in writing, and the final winners
were chosen by the independant commmittee.

Kids
and snow, a happy combination.

Kids,

Ric
Garland looks happy.
Not
because he got a price ...
...
he is just happy to honor two very active citizens for their
engagement in the community. |
