A rumor is only as good as the people who believe in it. In Entrelacs too!

A rumor reflects a certain interest, it is nourished by people who don't know, and it spreads faster than the truth.

Sometimes people launch a rumor to see how the targeted persons react or, even better, to bend situations to their convenience.
Sometimes rumors come from jalousy, own failure, sometimes ... it can be everything and anything.

But rumors are always dangerous. Also for the ones who spread them using targeted disinformation.
This is especially proven in Entrelacs.

On the other side, rumors are extremely fragile. Serious information and communication make them sick, and when they have to face the truth, they die a sudden dead.

le miroir is not hunting for sensations or rumors to get a few new readers on board, le miroir is just amused about the newest rumor in Entrelacs, where it comes from, what it is targeting and how the targeted persons react.

We will not try to deny it by interviewing the victims, neither by blackmailing the source.

We just want to open our window a little bit like in the cartoon above to see the rumor flying along our City Hall and we want to express our respect to A.P. Weber, who made these drawings more than 50 years ago. As if he would have been in Entrelacs.

A propos communication:
Entrelacs has a City Hall, a bulletin, a web site and finally le miroir where serious informations can be retrieved.

Why listen to all kind of other sources who can't maneuver a ship or a City Hall in a straight line?

No, I will not talk about the newest rumor. I will just repeat what everybody finds absolutely normal:
Working people take holydays; a person with public responsibility like a mayor or a general manager too.

And before they go, they organize a professional substitution for the time being. That's common practice.

Now:
The one who can make a poisonous rumor out of this standard situation is a poor, poor desinformant counting on a few ignorant people who are proud of spreading the rumor to the rest of the world.

And:
Entrelacs has, like every village, around 6 councilors. These councilors have a private life too.

And if they don't just take the money and stay away from City Hall, but rather work for the progress of the community, it should be clear that this engagement for the municipality has an impact on their private life and vice versa.

And it has sometimes a dramatic influence on their health, as we can see now.

And:
Entrelacs has - if we don't listen to the last rumor, to the next one, etc. - a stable and dedicated crew in City Hall.

This was not always the case.
Both, administration and council had to fight for a certain harmony and a professional working environment.
Some people who poisoned this positive climate or didn't want to follow are gone.

Now:
This Council can still work for another 12 months having the confidence of Entrelacs population. (The crazy proof is also the fact that at public meetings at City Hall, there are not many controversed discussions any more and mostly as many heads on stage as in the audience. Or?)

And:
After these 12 months?

Entrelacs needs not a change at all.

What Entrelacs needs is first of all stability. The recent Council and administration should do everything in their own power to expend this stability into the next election period from 2009 - 2012.

This doesn't mean it has to be the same persons, it means frankly that the good spirit and the progress Entrelacs has achieved since November 2005 should not be blown into the wind to make a few eternal complainers happy.

This means also that it is now the time for all responsible people to move the track switch in the right direction.

Otherwise they open doors and windows to home made rumors who want to destabilize our municipality.

Do we need that, do we want that. No!

But why do I rack my brain ?

If the rumor everybody talks about in the village is not more than a husting maneuver from some people from yesterday who want to destabilize the recent village management by disinformation and come back that way, I should be quiet.

Entrelacs citizens are well informed, City Hall doors are open and the windows have been washed.

Let's take care and wish our Mayor Ric Garland a good recovery.
City Hall is in good hands, thanks to his engagement and to the adequate team work of the administration and Council.
